After cranial surgery Friday, injured Little Leaguer Easton Oliverson is in “a great deal of pain,” but his family and doctors are preparing to bring him home to Utah this week, according to a post on his Instagram account. To provide updates on its status.
the account Posted a picture on Sunday night 12-year-old Easton smiles and eats his “favorite food” nachos in his hospital bed. The post also included a photo of a long line of stitches running across his skull.
Easton was seriously injured on August 15 after falling from a bunk bed at Little League World Series dormitories in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Last week, the player underwent an operation to re-cover his skull.
“He has spent quite a bit of his time in the last few days resting from surgery on Friday morning. He has been in excruciating pain, so his medical team has been doing everything they can to try and deal with this. The right side of his face is swollen again from surgery.”
Easton was “receiving physical therapy and working on different skills” in preparation for his transfer back to Utah.
The post continued, “Thank you all for following, and rallying behind Tank through his recovery. Please continue to pray that his pain is brought under control, and that all will go well in planning and executing his transfer to (Salt Lake City) this week.” Thank you, we love you.”
The Snow Canyon Little League player has made a remarkable recovery since he was flown to a children’s hospital in critical condition nearly two weeks ago. His father told CNN earlier that he was “fighting for his life,” with doctors saying he was just 30 minutes away from death. He underwent surgery and was placed in a medical coma.
In the days that followed, Easton made huge strides, including removing his feeding tube and walking the entire floor of his hospital unit without stopping, according to updates posted on his Instagram account.
